Our Grocery Store Attitude, Awareness, & Usage Survey is a two-page, two-color paper questionnaire. Description follows below.

Purpose of this Questionnaire

Measure the grocery store attitudes of a particular target market toward, awareness of, and usage of particular grocery stores.

Who Would Benefit from Purchasing this Questionnaire?

Any grocery store owner or manager who wants to do the following:

  1. Better understand the potential of a particular market area or target market.
  2. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the competitors in a particular market area, or among a particular target market.
  3. Develop a marketing and/or advertising campaign to attract business in a particular market area or among a target market.
This questionnaire could be used either by an existing business, or by someone thinking of opening a new grocery store location and trying to select the right geography, target market, or marketing message to send.

General Description of the Information Obtained by this Questionnaire

  • The number of times per month the household shops in a grocery store.
  • Average amount spent per week in grocery stores.
  • Name of grocery store where household shops most often.
  • Special products and services the household looks for in grocery stores.
  • Importance ranking of a variety of grocery-related "attributes."
  • Familiarity/awareness of particular grocery stores.
  • Image held of particular grocery stores.
  • Grocery coupon usage.
  • Household size and composition.
  • Respondent age.
  • Respondent income.

The Printing Process

We have a working relationship with a specialist in printing and direct mail. Once we have modified our questionnaire and cover letter to suit your business, our specialist will handle the printing and mailing.

The Questionnaire Distribution and Receipt Process

The list should be drawn from the specific geography surrounding the store (or future store) location. We recommend a vendor to use to obtain lists of recipients for the questionnaire. We will handle the purchase of the mailing list, envelope printing, and mailing.

You may want to consider using an incentive, such as a dollar, to increase the response rate.

Allow at least four weeks for us to receive the completed questionnaires. After six weeks, substantially all responses will have been received.

The Analysis Process

We will conduct all data entry and analysis. We will provide an analysis which, in addition to summarizing the responses to the questions in the questionnaire, will identify marketing strategies for you to consider. Graphics will be included in the final report whenever they help communicate results. If there is a sufficient sample size, we will conduct special analyses for different age and income groups.
